World Food Forum launches forest-themed exhibition in Rome

ROME, Oct. 11 (Xinhua) — A forest-themed art exhibition, organized by the World Food Forum, opened Thursday at the Rome Botanical Gardens.
Titled “Paradise Bank,” the immersive installation was created by young Brazilian-Italian artist Lucas Memmola, who transformed a greenhouse into an interactive vault. The exhibition features two rainforest-themed rooms designed to inspire reflection on the critical role indigenous peoples play in shaping sustainable agrifood systems.
“In this exhibition, I placed traditional foods from the Amazon rainforest inside a metal safe, symbolizing they are treasures of nature,” Memmola said.
Qu Dongyu, director-general of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), inaugurated the exhibition. “Culture is a powerful catalyst that can inspire the younger generation and ignite their passion to work together for a better, more sustainable future,” he said during the opening ceremony.
The exhibition will run until Nov. 7, from Tuesday to Sunday, following the operating hours of the Botanical Gardens.
The World Food Forum, established by the FAO Director-General in 2021, is a youth-led movement and network focused on empowering young people to take an active role in transforming agrifood systems. ■
